When a Christian takes heat because they have said that it's the cross that saved them, they are only stating this figuratively speaking. Some Christians also proffer and are angry in argument that Jesus was not on a cross, but a torture stake that did not have a cross beam. So why don't we sin, not love each other as commanded, shoot bows and arrows at each other, and divide due to differences as to the exact wooden structure that Jesus was hung on.
Imagine the pain Jesus still experiences that humans place themselves and their time based knowledge as a God over the immensity of His love and suffering. Jesus has to feel pain that His children place their knowledge as a priority over the immensity that they have everlasting life in paradise. Whether someone believes the wooden structure had a cross beam or not, believes or doesn't believes in the rapture, or believes that water baptism is necessary or not for eternal life, doesn't stop Jesus from fellowshipping with each of these children.
No matter what someone believes in at any given time, doesn't super-cede the immensity of the sacrifice of Jesus and His eternal love. It is a mockery of Jesus for His children to place their time based knowledge as greater than the extraordinary suffering and love of Jesus. Jesus, His sacrifice, His suffering, paradise in Heaven, are greater than humans and their extraordinarily very slight slither of knowledge accumulated within a multitude of lifetimes. Amen.
John 15:12 This is my commandment, that ye love one another as I have loved you.
