The Watchman

The Watchman

God uses the title of 'Watchman' in the Bible to illustrate the work of a particular messenger and prophet that He uses for many purposes. Scripture, with a reflection for Christians serving in modern times, teaches the exact definition and functions of a Watchman for the sake of doing God's exact work.Christians, of course, are not supposed to police the world and 'play God.' Judging, in the regard to having an outlook of being equal to or above God and others, along with condemning others, is sin. Jesus said in Matthew 7:1-2 Judge not, that ye not be judged. For with what judgment ye judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you.

God's Holy Law

God in Heaven did not conjure up rules to create His Word. Holy law is Holy law. In Scripture, God is simply detailing the exact Holy laws that exist for the sake of helping His children. From Heaven to Heaven, everlasting to everlasting, in all parts of the Earth, and everywhere, Holy law is simply the way that things are. God gives His children the wisdom to understand that if they do specific things, then other specific things will happen.

God guides through prayer and Scripture to discern the assorted definitions of the word 'judgment.' The definition of judgment regarding the works of a servant such as a Watchman include to weigh out, evaluate, and gain an understanding of situations and people. For a Watchman and for any Christian, God also teaches that it is vital to understand the varying traits of goodness and evil, and what to do with each. God teaches these and other judgments such as concluding where an unsaved person is at in their outlook of who Jesus is…to have a basis to lead them to salvation. Through this definition of judgment, Christians can also help each other grow in the sole reason and purpose of their existence…To be loved by God, and to love God and each other.

Jesus said in John 15:12 This is my commandment, that ye love one another as I have loved you. God becomes exasperated throughout the history of the human race due to His children rejecting immensity of His love and blessings. More children of God than not, do not care to do the will of God. Therefore, they interfere in God's plans for themselves, God's plans for others, and even at times God's plans for the salvation of others. For this and other reasons, a Watchman is used for delivering messages from God. Ezekiel 3:17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

God's Messenger

The above Ezekiel verse applies not just to this particular message for Israel, but in any situation where God puts someone into a position to be a Watchman and deliver a message. God explains in great detail and redundancy, including in Ezekiel 3, 18, and 33, what happens if a messenger delivers or doesn't deliver a message from Him.

When God puts someone into a position to deliver a message to a sinner and they don't, the Bible explains that the messenger can have blood on their hands for a number of things. Guilt of sin in the case of a failed messenger can include the sins that a sinner did because a message wasn't delivered, as well as the sin of disobedience for not delivering a message. If a messenger delivers a message to a sinner and the sinner keeps sinning, the messenger is then without guilt.

Ezekiel 3:18-21 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shall surely die; and thou give him not warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. Again, when a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered, but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.Idle acceptance of sin is a form of enabling.

Idle acceptance of sin gives a message to a sinner without repentance a false assurance that what they are doing is fine. An idle acceptance of sin from a Christian is one of the worst sins that a Christian can do. Perpetual idle acceptance to the ongoing sins of another person is a perpetual ongoing sin. Knowingly staying idle in the respect of not saying anything to a sinner when God puts someone into a position to do so; is the understanding of righteousness and un-righteousness, but choosing unrighteousness. This type of sin is not a mistake, it includes disobedience, it lacks all love, and it assists the devil.

Staying quiet while a loved one or friend is leading a life of sin, is an incredible lack of care. Idle acceptance of sin gives the appearance of the approval of sin. Idle acceptance can also be a form of enabling. Someone having idle acceptance of the sins of others is not only assisting the devil. Someone having idle acceptance of the sins of others is also giving legal spiritual permission to the devil to be used as an assistant to the devil to help destroy a sinner and themselves. Scripture is redundant in teaching the exact Holy law; that if a sinner keeps sinning thereafter a message is delivered…the messenger is free of guilt. But if a messenger fails to deliver a message, they have guilt of sin.

God gives His messengers many types of messages to deliver through assorted means and avenues. This includes standard messages from the Bible that a Christian is commanded to give. Taking a stance or not taking a stance of protest against sin, delivering a message or not delivering a message, are some of the discernment between goodness and evil. This is the case for someone with the title of a Watchman and for every Christian.

The definition of 'a sinner of iniquity' has complexities, but it includes someone sinning as a way of life without repentance. An example of a parent taking a stance against an adult child who is leading a life of iniquity; "Son/daughter, I want to tell you that since you are leading a perpetual life of sin without repentance, my love for you is taking a perpetual stance of protest until you repent and give your life to Jesus. Period, it's not up for discussion. That's the way that it is." Each situation and the way to go about each situation for what to say and when to say it, differs. In all things, God instructs His children to pray and allow the Holy Spirit to guide. The amount of love that someone shows to another person is at times equivalent to the amount of time that they put into prayer, including to develop what to say and when to say it.

There are times where the Holy Spirit will guide by straightway coming upon someone to deliver a message immediately. In other cases, someone might sit with a notepad praying and working on a message for weeks or even longer to develop wisdom for a particular delivery. If a parent cares more about their own popularity or pleasures with their child than they care about delivering a message, they are stating that they love themselves along with their popularity and pleasures more than they love their child.

Messages from the Holy Spirit can be a hard thing to deliver at times due to the explicit content. But the outcome to anyone involved when someone fails to deliver a message can be much more catastrophic than the delivering of any message. It doesn't matter at times as much of the initial reaction to a message, but more so of the overall long-term outcome. Someone not giving a message can cause the loss of someone's marriage, create stress, health issues, the loss of a loved one, others might turn away from righteousness, continue sinning without repentance, die, and some might even go to hell.

Delivering the Lord's Message

A Watchman has to remain in the humility of Jesus. Because they are a messenger from God, they cannot become puffed up, allow their ego to inflate, supposing that they are equal to or above God and others. A messenger is very important, but they are just a messenger. The primary importance of a message being delivered; is God, God's glory, the message itself, and the recipient of the message.

Jesus is a Spirit of extraordinary humility, and Jesus did not come to condemn, but to love and to save. In every action and with every word spoken, a Watchman, or in general, any Christian, needs to pray, allow the Holy Spirit to talk through them, and love in the way that God loves.

Ezekiel 18:21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. Jesus said in John 3:17 For God sent His son not into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 1st Epistle of John 3:14,16 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loves not his brother abides in death. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

In layman's terms, one of the many overall messages that God gives His children through His Word is, "I love you. I want you to come to Heaven and live with me forever. But there is a problem. Holiness and sin cannot co-exist."Jesus has solved that problem within Holy law.It is beneficial for every Christian to pray and read the Bible to learn as much as they can, including Holy law. This embraces the desire to keep into mind the highest commands, 'to love God and His children in the same way that God loves.' The Scripture that states to love as God loves is not a nicety. It is an unwavering commandment. It is a sin not to. Something to keep in mind in the regard of loving others is that God loves and addresses sin by outdoing it with His grace. Romans 5:20-21 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound. That as sin has reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. All children of God are supposed to be messengers in many ways, including giving messages that are to be delivered without delay. This includes when someone has received the gift of Jesus, to give the gift back of Jesus by the witnessing of Jesus to others. A Watchman or any Christian can testify and simply explain to an unsaved love one or friend, that gaining everlasting life is one of the easiest things that someone can do. It is just a simple decision of the heart and a prayer. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

"Father, in the name of Jesus, I surrender my day and my life to you. I repent my sins. Please forgive me. I confess that Jesus is the Son of God and my Savior, rising from the dead. I surrender all aspects of myself and my life to you. Lord, guide me to do your will, to go wherever you want me to go and to do whatever you want me to do for the glory of your eternal Kingdom. I humbly ask you to give me blessings beyond my imagination so that I can use them to give back to you and your children. Amen."

1st Peter 4:10-11 As every man has received the gift, even so minister the same one to another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God gives; that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
